Belarus, China plan to set up joint scientific research bureau

MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – Belarus and China intend to found a joint bureau for scientific research, BelTA learned from the website of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization.

A trilateral memorandum of cooperation was signed in Minsk on 9 February between the Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone Administrative Committee, the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of Belarus’ National Academy of Sciences, and the company Easy Best (Beijing) Fund Management Company Limited. The memorandum will lay the groundwork for further cooperation between Belarus and China in the establishment of a joint Belarus-China scientific research bureau, noted Zhao Shiyu, Director General of the Qingdao International Economic Cooperation Zone Administrative Committee.

During the meeting, members of the Chinese delegation saw a presentation of scientific achievements and developments in mechanical engineering, production of new competitive automobiles, tractors, agricultural and utility vehicles, their components, mechanical engineering materials and technologies, including nanomaterials and nanotechnologies. The sides reached an agreement on cooperation within the Silk Road Economic Belt as part of the Belt and Road initiative, promotion of projects in mechanics and mechanical engineering, including electric transport.

The Chinese delegation also visited the Belarus-China industrial park Great Stone and learned more about the advantages of work in the free economic zone.
