MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Kirill Rudy has met with Leung John, Director of the Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in China.
The parties discussed areas of trade and economic cooperation, investment and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. They also looked into a possibility to hold a Belarusian-Asian investment forum. The parties are considering scheduling the forum to take place in Hong Kong in late 2019.
The Chinese special administrative region of Hong Kong is one of Asia’s and the world’s leading financial centers. Hong Kong is situated on the Kowloon Peninsula, which is surrounded by the South China Sea on all sides except the north, and on over 260 islands. The biggest of them are Hong Kong Island which is home to state authorities and the financial center of the territory, Lantau Island, and Lamma Island. In the north Hong Kong borders on the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone of the Chinese province of Guangdong.
