MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Minsk is hosting the Belarusian-Azerbaijani business forum on 7 June. The two countries are set to sign three agreements in tourism, exhibition activities and trade, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Denis Meleshkin said ahead of the plenary session on 7 June, BelTA has learned.

“It is symbolic that the forum is taking place following the visit of the head of state to Azerbaijan in May 2024. The prime minister of Azerbaijan has paid a visit to Belarus this week. The forum of Azerbaijan and Belarus business became the quintessence of the visits. I would say that this is the beginning of the implementation of the agreements reached by the heads of state and government,” Denis Meleshkin said.

In his words, there was great interest in the forum, and the topics of the talks and the industries presented on both sides reflect the agreements between the heads of state. This is industrial cooperation in the production of municipal and fire-fighting equipment, cooperation in veterinary medicine and pharmaceuticals. This is not a complete list of planned points of growth. The forum participants will also touch upon the issue of supplying products for the trade house of Azerbaijan, which opened in Belarus in 2017.

"We are confident that today is not a familiarization meeting between the business of the two countries, but substantive negotiations on the supply of products and the establishment of joint production facilities. Three agreements will also be signed at the forum in the areas of tourism, joint organization of foreign exhibitions and supply of certain goods for sale in the Trade House of Azerbaijan,” the deputy chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said.

Minsk has become a meeting place for business circles of Belarus and Azerbaijan. The Belarusian-Azerbaijani business forum and B2B negotiations between representatives of business circles of the two countries are taking place as part of the official visit of Azerbaijan’s Vice Premier Ali Ahmadov to Belarus and the intergovernmental Belarusian-Azerbaijani commission on trade and economic cooperation. The forum will address the issues of bilateral interaction and present successful stories of partnership. The plenary part will be followed by B2B negotiations, where representatives of Belarusian companies will be able to establish contacts with the heads of 43 Azerbaijani companies interested in cooperation in agriculture, industry, construction, furniture production, light industry and pharmaceuticals. More than 150 representatives of Belarusian business have confirmed their participation in the talks, which testifies to the high interest in strengthening and developing economic relations with Azerbaijan.
