Belarus, Azerbaijan mull over joint productions

Belarus, Azerbaijan mull over joint productions

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Azerbaijan are planning to set up a number of joint productions, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko said at a meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Azerbaijani commission on trade and economic cooperation, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and Azerbaijan can be proud of the achieved level of cooperation, which is largely based on the friendship of the leaders of our countries and frequent contacts at all levels of interaction. The recent state visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has confirmed that our strategic partnership will be further strengthened and mutually beneficial cooperation will continue to develop actively on the basis of the traditions of friendship and mutual understanding. This visit has become a powerful impetus for moving towards each other. Constructive and fruitful negotiations between the heads of state and heads of government bodies of the two countries resulted in a number of new joint projects,” Igor Petrishenko said.

In his words, the heads of state have set ambitious but achievable tasks. “We need to expand production cooperation. Along with tractors, we will be assembling utilities and other machinery in Azerbaijan, as well as Belarusian elevators. We will be supplying fire-fighting equipment. We will build a multi-brand service center together with our Azerbaijani friends to service Belarusian machinery. We plan to create a joint production of medicines and veterinary drugs, as well as production of mixed fertilizers from Azerbaijani nitrogen and Belarusian potassium,” the deputy prime minister said.

“Belarus will make its concrete contribution to the revival of Karabakh. One of our main projects will be the construction of a complex modern agro-town in Agdam District, including the production and processing of agricultural products, as well as housing and social facilities for workers and their families. We plan to present the concept of this complex project to the heads of state,” Igor Petrishenko added.

According to him, the economic sector has always been and remains at the forefront of the partnership between the two countries, as it yields real mutually beneficial results. “I am convinced that by joint efforts we will be able to implement all the agreements reached at the highest level and realize joint projects for the benefit of our countries and peoples,” the deputy prime minister said.

The intergovernmental commission is set to sign the minutes of the meeting and the updated roadmap of interaction between Belarus and Azerbaijan for the near future.
