MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – Belarus exported almost $5 billion worth of agricultural products in 2017, Belarus’ First Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Marinich said in an interview to the ONT TV Channel on 28 January, BelTA has learned.
Leonid Marinich stressed that the growth of exports to $5 billion “speaks about better processing”. “Today we sell the final product with a higher value added,” the first deputy minister said. In his words, Belarus exported $4.2 billion worth of agricultural products in 2016.
Belarus sells its farm products to 70 countries. The country developed over ten new markets in 2017. Last year Belarus launched its agricultural supplies to Italy, the UK, and Egypt, Leonid Marinich said. Russia remains Belarus’ main export market, with supplies being gradually diversified, the first deputy minister said.
