Belarus’ agricultural export to EU 50% up in 2017

MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – Belarus’ export of agricultural products to the European Union increased by 50% in 2017, BelTA learned from Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats on 15 November.

“We’ve increased export to European Union countries by 56% in comparison with last year. We ship our products to 19 European Union countries. We sell casein, whey powder, rapeseed oil, and other products,” said Leonid Zayats.

Belarus’ export of agricultural products to China has increased as well. “Work has been done to enable our enterprises to export to China. As many as 36 enterprises have been certified to export dairy products to China. A lot of work has been done to certify Belarusian meat producers to export beef to China. The certification of Belarusian poultry farms is in progress in order to sell poultry products to China. We will step up our presence by the end of the year,” noted the minister.

In January-September 2017 enterprises run by the Agriculture and Food Ministry demonstrated an 11% increase in foreign trade. “In the nine months we sold merchandise worth $1.844 billion, $184 million up from the same period of last year,” added Leonid Zayats.
