MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) - Belarus is actively developing trade and economic initiatives with China and the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said in her welcoming speech to the participants of the SCO Industrial and Supply Chains Forum and the 2023 SCO International Investment and Trade Expo held in Qingdao, China, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.
According to the deputy minister, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an important dialogue platform for Belarus with the key partners. “Our relations with China are strategic. We are actively developing integration cooperation within the EAEU, participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and are ready to deepen and expand the equal and open partnership relations and to create the “community of common destiny for mankind”, Alesya Abramenko said. “Participation in the SCO will help joining efforts and potential of each state to achieve the goals of social and economic development and improvement of people's welfare. We are open to dialogue on the implementation of new initiatives and projects.”
Last year the trade between the two countries reached a record high of $6 billion and exceeded $2.5 billion in January-April 2023. “In the investment sector we suggest deepening cooperation in technological development, including the establishment of joint productions, modernization of Belarusian enterprises using modern Chinese technologies, promotion of goods and services in the markets of third countries. Our country is interested in establishing joint ventures in machine tool engineering, electric vehicles, and production of component parts for agricultural machinery both in Belarus and in China,” she stressed.
