Azerbaijan to promote Belarusian tractors to third countries

BAKU, 10 February (BelTA-Trend) - Ganja Automobile Plant and MTZ Holding Company set up on the basis of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) signed three agreements in Baku on 10 February. The documents will bolster the bilateral cooperation and will help the enterprises enter the markets of third countries, BelTA has learned.

In particular, the sides concluded a contract for 2015, a strategic long-term partnership agreement, and a mutual cooperation contract for three years. The documents were inked by Director of Ganja Automobile Plant Kamran Nazarov and Director General of MTZ Holding Company Fyodor Domotenko. The signing ceremony took place at the Belarusian Embassy in Azerbaijan.

Chairman of the Ganja Automobile Plant Supervisory Board Khanlar Fatiyev said that the strategic agreement will help the companies bring MTZ tractors assembled by Ganja Automobile Plant to the markets of third countries.

Director General of MTZ Holding Company Fyodor Domotenko noted that the signing of the documents was very symbolical since 2015 has been declared the Year of Agriculture in Azerbaijan, which is important for ensuring food security.

The contracts and agreements concluded between Ganja Automobile Plant and MTZ Holding Company will help them strengthen and develop the bilateral cooperation, expand the line of products, and increase their export sales.

Ganja Automobile Plant started working in December 2004. Over the years, the number of its workers has increased from 85 to 700. In March 2010 a three-party agreement was signed by Ganja Automobile Plant, Minsk Automobile Plant and the German company Haller to install municipal equipment produced by the German company at the automobile division of Ganja Automobile Plant assembling MAZ vehicles. The contract to produce and sell the entire lineup of MAZ trucks and MTZ tractors in Azerbaijan was signed in Minsk in late November 2006.

The Ganja-based enterprise is able to make up to 1,000 trucks and 2,000 tractors per year. Today Ganja Automobile Plant assembles tractors Belarus and MAZ vehicles.
