Austrian Polytechnik to step up participation in Belarus energy industry modernization

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – The Austrian company Polytechnik will take a larger part in the modernization of the Belarusian energy industry, including by investing in energy installations, BelTA learned from representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in Austria.

The relevant agreement was reached during the visit of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Austria Valery Voronetsky to the federal land Lower Austria.

While in Lower Austria‘s capital city Sankt Polten the Ambassador of Belarus met with Erwin Proll, head of the Lower Austria administration. The sides exchanged opinions about prospects of promoting regional ties between Belarus and Austria, the expansion of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as cooperation in education, culture, and tourism with the federal land Lower Austria. Business circles of the Austrian region were invited to take part in the second Belarusian-Austrian-Russian economic forum that the sides intend to arrange in Minsk on 13 October.

For the sake of expanding cooperation with Lower Austria’s private sector the Ambassador of Belarus also met with Leo Schirnhofer, CEO of Polytechnik Company. The company has been building compact cogeneration plants that use local fuels in Belarus for over ten years. The sides reached an agreement on more active involvement of the Austrian company in the modernization of Belarusian energy industry installations.

The Ambassador of Belarus is also supposed to meet with top officials of the Economic Chamber of Lower Austria to discuss new opportunities for investments and manufacturing cooperation with Belarus, including taking into account the launch of the Eurasian Economic Union. Prospects of arranging reciprocal visits of representatives of the business circles of Lower Austria and the regions of Belarus will be discussed.
