Asia-Pacific countries eager to expand cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – The countries of the Asia Pacific region are eager to strengthen cooperation with Belarus, President of the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) Jemal Inaishvili said as he attended a meeting at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) on 22 September, BelTA has learned.

“We are interested in closer cooperation with Belarus. It is the first time in the 50-year history of the CACCI that we have paid such a high-level visit to a country that is not a member of our organization and cannot become it due to geographical reasons,” Jemal Inaishvili noted.

For his part, BCCI Chairman Mikhail Myatlikov said that, at present, Belarus is developing trade and economic cooperation with 190 countries. He stressed that the countries of the Asia Pacific region are of great interest to Belarus. “In our opinion, the chambers of commerce and industry should take a direct part in the development of cooperation between Belarusian and Asia Pacific businessmen,” he emphasized.

Mikhail Myatlikov drew the attention of the guests to the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. The delegation has plans to visit the park on 23 September. “At the moment, the park is the largest project jointly implemented by Belarus and China. It is open not only to Belarusian or Chinese companies, but also to hi-tech companies of other countries. The park Great Stone provides unique conditions for doing business,” he pointed out.

Mikhail Myatlikov expressed hope that the current visit of the CACCI delegation will enhance mutual understanding and give the guests a clear idea that Belarus is a promising economic partner.
