Andreichenko: Belarus-Kyrgyzstan relations rely on a solid foundation of friendship, support

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – The relations between Belarus and Kyrgyzstan rely on a solid foundation of friendship, mutual understanding and support, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Belarus Ermek Ibraimov, BelTA has learned.

“This year we are marking the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and Kyrgyzstan. I would like to say that the Belarus-Kyrgyzstan relations are based on a solid foundation of friendship, mutual understanding, and support. We have always felt support of Kyrgyzstan’s MPs in international organizations. I believe that we have quite productive cooperation in the EAEU, the CIS, and the CSTO. We have developed a good legal framework,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

According to him, the recent years have seen a significant increase in bilateral trade. “About $100 million in 2021, a growth of almost 1.5 times in 2022, as far as I know from preliminary estimates. This, of course, represents very good progress. Nevertheless, we can do much better. Thus, we need to intensify work to promote trade and economic cooperation, in the first place, as this is still the basis of stability in Kyrgyzstan and Belarus. We need to step up our efforts to expand cooperation in education and culture, as well as interregional contacts,” the speaker noted.

The parties are set to discuss the state and prospects of the Belarus-Kyrgyzstan inter-parliamentary contacts, including the official visit to Belarus of the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan scheduled for 2023, as well as other topical issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, economy and the humanitarian field.
