Andreichenko: Belarus is interested in raising Brazilian investments

MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) - Belarus is interested in raising Brazilian investments, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Belarus Paulo Antonio Pereira Pinto, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Andreichenko noted that Belarus is ready to develop cooperation with Brazil on a wide range of issues as "the development of diversified relations is one of the priorities of foreign policy of the Republic of Belarus in Latin America.” "We believe that we need to pay more attention to investment projects, creation of assembly plants in both countries. We would like to see the Brazilian business in the Belarusian market. We can offer a number of serious projects which Brazil can invest in,” the Speaker said. Among such projects is the privatization of state-owned enterprises, and also mechanical engineering, processing industry, agriculture, construction, alternative energy, etc., Vladimir Andreichenko said. "Through the establishment of such enterprises, we will be able to advance to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union," he said.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives noted the need to increase the trade which has decreased substantially over the past few years. "In 2011 the trade was nearly $1.6 billion, and last year it decreased to $765 million," Vladimir Andreichenko said adding that Belarus attaches great importance to the revitalization of the bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

According to Mr Paulo Antonio Pereira Pinto, Belarus and Brazil have several areas of common interest, which considerably simplifies bilateral cooperation. The diplomat emphasized that the two countries pursue a policy of peace. “The same as Belarus is currently making it best to help regulate the crisis in the neighboring country (Ukraine - BelTA), Brazil has always acted as a peacekeeper on the Latin-American continent,” he said. According to the Ambassador, Belarus and Brazil support the idea of the integration of integrations and express interest in developing cooperation between various integration associations.

There is a working group on cooperation with the Parliament of Brazil at the National Assembly of Belarus. In April 2015 an invitation was sent to President of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Brazil Eduard Cunha to visit Belarus. A parliamentary delegation of Brazil is expected to visit Belarus in autumn 2015.
