Ambassador maps out measures for unhindered movement of Belarusian goods to China
Aleksandr Chervyakov

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) -  Belarus and China will build up trade and economic cooperation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the People's Republic of China Aleksandr Chervyakov said  answering a question from BelTA.

The head of the diplomatic mission noted that Belarus and China have established a high level of relations of an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership.

"China is one of our main strategic partners. In just a decade, our trade has increased by almost 1.7 times. Last year, this figure reached $5.7 billion,” the diplomat said. "This year, we have already reached about $1.4 billion in exports while last year the exports stood at $1.6 billion."

"Our enterprises are actively exploring the Chinese market, although there are certain difficulties such as the distance and the language barrier," the new Belarusian ambassador to China said.

He stressed that the head of state instructed to remove barriers and increase the Belarusian-Chinese trade. "This is the first set of tasks that is related to the economy," Aleksandr Chervyakov said. “The president has identified three such sets: trade-economic, political and humanitarian. Certain tasks have been set in terms of these three. But the core is the economy. First of all, efforts will be made to expand and deepen our economic ties."

"Next year, we will aim for $2.5 billion in exports," he continued. “We will work to achieve this goal. We need to build the right logistics, remove barriers on the way, and provide supply and financing channels. These issues should be considered as a whole and measures should be taken in each of the directions to ensure the unhindered movement of goods and money.”

Aleksandr Chervyakov, who previously worked as Economy Minister, stressed: "The tasks set by the president are capacious, clear. And in order to fulfill them, we need to roll up our sleeves and get down to work," the Belarusian ambassador to China noted.
