MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) - China’s trade with Belarus is growing faster than trade with the majority of other trading partners in the Eurasian region, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said at a solemn event to mark the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China, BelTA has learned.
"Extensive mutually beneficial cooperation is the inexhaustible driving force of China-Belarus relations," the ambassador said. "Over the past 32 years, the trade between China and Belarus has grown from $60.8 million to a historic high of $8.443 billion in 2023, increasing almost 139 times."
"Today, China steadily ranks second among Belarus' trading partners. In turn, China’s trade with Belarus is growing faster than with most of other trading partners in the Eurasian region. The core of mutually beneficial cooperation is the joint work on the Belt and Road Initiative. A large number of landmark projects, including the China-Belarus Industrial Park, are vivid examples of the initiative's success," Ambassador Xie Xiaoyong stated.
"By developing traditional sectors such as mechanical engineering, agricultural production and biotechnology, and focusing on new and emerging fields such as digital economy, medicine, healthcare and green economy, we have gradually formed a multi-vector, extensive and multi-level cooperation structure," Ambassador Xie Xiaoyong concluded.
