MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – The Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus has been awarded by the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP), BelTA learned from the website of the bank.
The award was presented at the 42nd ADFIAP Annual Meeting held in Muscat, Oman. The Development Bank was awarded for its infrastructure development efforts that helped improve the country’s transport infrastructure and create conditions for promoting other sectors and facilitating closer integration of the national economy into the world economy.
“Financing infrastructure projects is one of the key areas of work of any development institution. Roads, bridges, airports – such infrastructure facilities are vital for any national economy, in particular, economies having huge transit flows. Apart from that, the level of transport infrastructure development is viewed as a kind of benchmark by investors, and it can encourage or discourage investment into this or that region. Therefore, the Development Bank is actively involved in building modern and efficient transport infrastructure in the country,” the Bank said commenting on the award.
Founded in 1976, the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific sees its mission in advancing sustainable development through its members. ADFIAP has currently 131 member-institutions in 45 countries. The Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus joined ADFIAP in July 2014.
