MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The readmission agreement between the European Union and Belarus might be signed by the end of this year, Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Andrea Wiktorin told the media, BelTA has learned.
“The readmission agreement will be signed as soon as parties are ready to sign the visa facilitation agreement. These matters were discussed in Brussels on 11 October. That was a good and constructive meeting. We managed to harmonize fundamental aspects of the text of the agreement. At the same time, we still need to settle some technicalities. However, I personally hope that this agreement will be signed by the end of 2018,” Andrea Wiktorin said. She emphasized that the readmission agreement and the visa facilitation agreement will make part of the same package.
Andrea Wiktorin noted that some minor technicalities need to be taken care of. “I think the matter will be settled in the nearest future,” the head of the EU Delegation to Belarus added.
