Visit of Omani business delegation to Belarus expected to boost bilateral trade

Visit of Omani business delegation to Belarus expected to boost bilateral trade

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – The visit of a delegation of the business circles of the Sultanate of Oman to Belarus will bolster the bilateral trade, Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich told reporters before the Belarusian-Omani business forum and business matchmaking session on 20 September, BelTA has learned.

“Some 40 Omani businessmen, managers and owners of large companies, have come to Belarus to study investment opportunities in the manufacturing industry, agriculture, and tourism. This is a good chance to boost the bilateral trade and expand our cooperation,” Vladimir Koltovich said.

In spring 2016, Oman hosted the third meeting of the Belarus-Oman Business Cooperation Council. “For a certain period of time we had no close ties, the trade was lower than $1 million. During that meeting, Oman expressed great interest in strengthening its relations with our country,” Vladimir Koltovich noted.

He said that members of the Omani delegation have a good impression of Belarus. “They say that our people are kind, everything is in an excellent order, the roads are good, and the fields are well-kept. The first things they see are very important as they greatly influence their impression of the country,” the minister explained.

Vladimir Koltovich stated that the trade between Belarus and Oman hit its record high in 2012. In that year, it amounted to $12 million. “This is a benchmark that we can be talking about today,” the minister added.
