MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) – The Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia has proved its worth, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Anatoly Isachenko told reporters following the session of the inter-parliamentary commission on interregional cooperation of the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council on the sidelines of the 8th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia on 30 June, BelTA has learned.
“The Forum of Regions has proved its worth. This is the platform to discuss the results of implementing existing laws and to address those issues that are on the way towards closer cooperation. These issues are brought to a higher level where appropriate legislative acts are adopted,” Anatoly Isachenko said.
The vice speaker added that in the context of sanctions pressure on the part of the collective West, the integration, uniformity and convergence of legislations in certain areas are coming to the forefront.
The inter-parliamentary commission on interregional cooperation of the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council convened on 30 June. “We discussed the outcomes of the 7th edition of the forum, revised and assessed its results, and also charted out plans for the next year. We outlined the issues that we will address. These are demographic security, healthcare. Today these topics are very relevant for the two states,” Anatoly Isachenko said.
The 8th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia kicked off on 29 June and will be running through 1 July. Its main events are held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
