MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – The experience of the Belarusian bureaucratic system is interesting for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia. The Assembly’s Executive Secretary Sergei Strelchenko made the statement after a memorandum of cooperation was signed by the secretariats of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on 13 June, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about the overall organization of the bureaucratic system in Belarus, Sergei Strelchenko noted that a lot can be learned from the country. In particular, the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament has many years of experience that the Union State parliament can tap into. In turn, the secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia is ready to share their best practices with colleagues from the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus.

In line with the memorandum of cooperation the sides will work together to advance integration in the Union State of Belarus and Russia, ensure quality organization of parliamentary events, and bolster interparliamentary cooperation. Alexander Slobodchuk, Head of the Secretariat of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, said that the document provides for sharing information and exchanging documents in addition to organizing consultations, roundtable sessions, and other events. On the whole, the document is designed to improve the quality of parliamentary events.

Alexander Slobodchuk pointed out that although this cooperation existed in the past, the memorandum will take it to the next level. “Our cooperation will only grow more advanced. We are intent on working to take lawmaking and the organization of parliamentary events to a high level,” he stressed.
