MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – Belarus and China have big prospects for further comprehensive cooperation, Chairman of the Belarus-China Friendship Society Professor Anatoly Tozik said at a meeting in the House of Friendship on 20 January to mark the 24th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and China, BelTA informs.
Anatoly Tozik stressed that over 24 years of diplomatic relations Belarus and China made great headway in the political, economic and cultural cooperation. The Belarusian-Chinese relations have been steadily developing. Good personal contacts between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping contribute greatly to the strengthening of ties between the two countries. The leaders of the two countries exchange regular visits which always result in new cooperation agreements.
Anatoly Tozik named the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park among the most important projects implemented jointly by Belarus and China. He also stressed that three Institutes of Confucius were set up in Belarus.
Anatoly Tozik praised China’s success on the international arena in both political and economic sectors. He also congratulated China on Tu Youyou winning the Nobel Prize for her work in helping to create an anti-malaria medicine. “It proves China’s impressive progress in medicine,” he said. Anatoly Tozik expressed confidence that 2016 would be a year of Belarus-China successful and fruitful cooperation.
In turn, China’s Charge d’Affaires to Belarus Luo Zhanhui stressed that the results of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation over 24 years of diplomatic relations prove the right course the two countries have chosen. He stressed the importance of Belarus joining Xi Jinping’s initiative One Belt, One Road. “China is strengthening the initiative. The implementation of the project to set up the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park is a good example of cooperation both for the region and the whole world,” the diplomat said. He is confident that Belarus and China will be able to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
Host of the evening, Chairperson of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries Nina Ivanova said that the House of Friendship is expected to host a lot of events to promote the popularization of Chinese culture and traditions and get the two nations closer to each other.
Attending the evening were representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the House of Representatives, creative intellectuals and students.
The evening was wrapped up with a performance of Chinese singers and the creative band of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts Talaka.
