MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – Syria is ready to adopt Belarusian practices in organization of children’s recreation. The statement was made during the meeting of Belarus’ Education Minister Igor Karpenko with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria to Belarus Bassam Abdel Majeed on 24 September, BelTA learned from the press service of Belarus’ Education Ministry.

The diplomat thanked for the warm welcome of Syrian children who come to Belarus for recovery. The ambassador noted that Belarus gives great attention to the social aspect and Syria is ready to adopt Belarusian practices including the organization of children’s leisure and recreation. "I think that recovery, recreation and study opportunities for Syrian children in Belarus will bolster ties of the two countries. The relationship with friendly Belarus is a priority for us. We can develop bilateral cooperation in higher, secondary special and vocational education," Bassam Abdel Majeed said.

In his turn, Igor Karpenko briefed the diplomat on preparation of a draft program on bilateral cooperation to organize recovery and recreation of Syrian children in Belarus for summers and winters of 2018-2019. A draft agreement on intergovernmental cooperation in higher education was sent to Syria in August. "The new draft specifies the terms of exchange of students, graduate students, postgraduates, officials and teachers of higher education establishments. Igor Karpenko expressed hope for further cooperation in the recovery program of Syrian children and in the training of staff of higher, secondary special and vocational levels, the press service of the Education Ministry said.
