MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – The MPs will take part in the work to improve the Constitution, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said as he addressed a workshop to introduce MPs to the information-search system and other state information resources, BelTA has learned.
The MPs are facing major challenges. They were outlined by the head of state as he met with MPs on 5 December 2019, and are also conditioned by the specifics of the current year. “The main political event of the year for the country will be the the presidential campaign. The five-year period is coming to an end, and all government agencies, including the House of Representatives, must contribute to achieving its policy objectives. The deputy corps will also contribute to the development of the country's social and economic development program for the next five years. We should take part in the work to improve the Constitution,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
The quality and efficiency of legislation will be used as the criterion to assess legislative activity. “Laws must promote sustainable development of the country, economic growth, prosperity and living standards of the population. They should be timely and relevant,” the speaker stressed. He added that the period of consideration of bills in the House of Representatives should not exceed one year. “We should adopt a bill within a year it is submitted to the House of Representatives. I expect MPs to be active, enterprising at all stages of the legislative process. The personal contribution of every MP is important,” Vladimir Andreichenko stressed.
After the workshop, the MPs were awarded the MP badges and certificates.
