Senator: Consolidation of society is the best cure for crisis

MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – The consolidation of society is the best cure for crisis, which humankind invented in the process of its evolution, Chairman of the the Council of the Republic’s Standing Commission on Legislation and State Construction Sergei Sivets told BelTA.

The history of the human civilization development shows that crisis phenomena (wars, revolutions, epidemics, natural disasters) have always been a kind of litmus test for the stability of state and public institutions, development of legal and civil consciousness of people. This is a test for the ability of the authorities to mobilize to effectively counteract the threat, to protect the life and health of the population, the MP said.

The senator stressed that 2020 is a special and symbolic year for Belarus. The year is marking the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 30th anniversary of the acquisition of state sovereignty. “The whole world is destabilized in economic, social and legal terms in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Now it is very important to remember that the key to successful management of any crisis and shocks is individual and collective responsibility of people based on the administrative and financial resources of the state," Sergei Sivets said.

“It is the consolidation of efforts of civil society institutions and government bodies that will make it possible to overcome the global crisis as soon as possible and at the lowest cost, and as a result, to strengthen the state immunity to the challenges and threats of our time," he is convinced. “It is also a practical opportunity to test the entire state and public apparatus, the legal system of the country for the complexity, consistency and efficiency of prompt response to the rapidly changing circumstances,” Sergei Sivets added.
