Putin: Belarus is Russia’s closest ally

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – Belarus is more than just a good neighbor for Russia, it is first of all its closest ally, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the 8th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia on 1 July, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus is much more than just a good neighbor for us, it is first of all our closest ally,” Vladimir Putin emphasized.

The Russian head of state noted that the relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect, support and consideration of each other’s interests. “Close friendly ties between the peoples of Russia and Belarus rely on common history and spiritual values, and often family bonds,” he added.
