Plans to vaccinate up to 2m people against COVID-19 in Belarus

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Belarus intends to vaccinate up to two million people against COVID-19, Belarus’ Acting Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich told journalists, BelTA has learned.

“We will begin the vaccination starting from small groups of people. The most vulnerable groups of individuals will top the list. These are education and healthcare workers, people engaged in retail – those who come into contact with many other people. All in all, we are planning get up to two million people vaccinated,” Dmitry Pinevich said.

According to him, the vaccination campaign will be financed from the state budget. However, it is too early to talk about the timeframe. “In about two weeks, we will present a roadmap to Russia, which will be finalized when we get the vaccine. We are currently addressing practical issues concerning its production. In about two weeks, we will have more information about the timeframe, scale, and sites of the vaccination campaign,” Dmitry Pinevich added.
