MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) - Election campaign in the parliamentary elections in Belarus starts in mid-October, the head of the Belarusian Central election commission Lidia Yermoshina told a press conference in BelTA’s press center.
She explained that the election campaign begins after the registration of candidates for deputies. The process of nomination ends on 7 October. The registration process will take ten days. This means that the election campaign will start after 17 October. If a candidate is registered before this date, he will be able to start campaigning. “But still it will be mid-October,” Lidia Yermoshina noted.
Lidia Yermoshina shared her expectations of the election campaign, stressing that how memorable this stage will be depends only on candidates. If they take advantage of all opportunities that the state provide them for free (statements in newspapers, television, participation in TV debates), then the campaign will be quite active,” she noted.
The elections to the House of Representatives will be held on 17 November, to the Council of the Republic on 7 November.
