MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) – The number of joint Belarus-China projects implemented in 2016-2017 increased by 30% over the previous two-year period, Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, Chairman of the Belarusian part of the commission on sci-tech cooperation Alexander Shumilin said at a joint meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental committee on cooperation on 2 November, BelTA has learned.
The biggest joint projects included the development of a new multi-channel high precision laser image generator, a graphene technology, a technology for plasma chemical synthesis of functional coatings. “Sci-tech cooperation is one of the promising areas of interaction between Belarus and China. The implementation of joint projects will help the two countries set up new high-technology enterprises in the future,” Alexander Shumilin said.
Strategic projects have been included into the program of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in science and technology for 2019-2020. An additional contest of Belarusian-Chinese projects for 2019-2020 has been announced in the following areas: electronics, information and communication technology, materials science, mechanics and engineering, energy efficiency and energy conservation, transportation, metallurgy, chemistry, biotechnology, agricultural technology.
During the visit to China, Alexander Shumilin met with Tianjin Vice Mayor Yin Hejun to discuss the prospects for implementing high-tech projects in the China-Belarus Industrial park Great Stone in such areas as pharmaceuticals, optics and unmanned technologies. The parties also agreed to develop inter-university cooperation.
