BRUSSELS, 11 December (BelTA) – NATO underlines the constructive role Belarus plays in ensuring regional security, BelTA learned from Andrei Rusakovich, Head of the Foreign Policy and Security Research Center, after the NATO HQ in Brussels hosted a media briefing for Belarusian reporters and experts.
Andrei Rusakovich pointed out that thanks to unique relations with Russia and the advancing partnership with European and Euro-Atlantic structures Belarus can make a tangible contribution to stability on the European continent.
“Belarus is one of the long-term partners of NATO. Expanding this interaction would serve interests of both sides,” he said.
Andrei Rusakovich also noted that the transparency of the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017 had confirmed Minsk’s intention to strictly follow its international commitments as part of the 2011 Vienna Document on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures.
“This stance of Belarus helps build up trust between countries in the region,” he was convinced.
