Mlechin: Belarus President becomes key figure in the European policy this year
MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – This year Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has become a key figure in the European policy, said diplomatic analyst Leonid Mlechin (Russia) at the 10th Belarusian International Media Forum “Partnership for the Future: the Legacy of the Great Victory” on 8 June, BelTA informs.
“This year the President of Belarus has become a key figure in the European policy and the mission he has undertaken is of considerable importance,” Leonid Mlechin said pointing first of all to the efforts to regulate the situation in the east of Ukraine. “Someone had to do it and the efforts that lead to the resolution of the conflict that took place in the center of Europe are of great significance,” he said.
According to the participant of the media forum, such conflicts are extremely painful and, as the history shows, are rarely short-lived. “In this respect it is of high importance to have people ready to devote their energy to making peace between the opposing sides,” he said.
