MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – The Minsk International Book Fair has turned 25, which is a testimony to its success and importance, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota told the media as he took part in the official opening ceremony of the 26th Minsk International Book Fair, BelTA has learned.
“If a fair survives its 5th birthday, it means it is successful and relevant. This fair turned 25 and this fact speaks for itself,” Grigory Rapota said.
According to him, the book fair astonishes with its scale. “I have not had enough time yet to have a look at the whole fair, but I could not but notice a great number of foreign participants. I am glad that children’s literature occupies an important place at the fair. And, of course, I am surprised by the wide range of literature,” the state secretary noted.
The 26th Minsk International Book Fair is held under the slogan "More Than Books" from 6 to 10 February. Some 60,000 people are expected to visit the fair. The organizers of the Minsk International Book Fair are the Information Ministry, the Minsk City Hall and the Belarusian Union of Writers. Co-organizers are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Education Ministry, the Culture Ministry, Belkniga and Makbel book selling companies.
