MINSK, 26 July (BelTA) - Sanctions imposed by Western countries against Belarus contradict international law, Belarusian Deputy minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Nazaruk told the media ahead of a business briefing on cooperation between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) and diplomatic mission of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
"Belarus has been living in difficult conditions for a long time. The West has been using the sanctions policy against Belarus since 1996. This contradicts international law. Nobody, except the UN Security Council, has the right to impose sanctions on an independent state," Igor Nazaruk said.
On 26 July the BelCCI hosted a meeting of heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions and consular offices with representatives of export-oriented enterprises and organizations. The event was held as part of the annual seminar for heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions and consulates. "This is a traditional event. The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry communicates with our ambassadors, organizes meetings of diplomats with representatives of major manufacturing enterprises of Belarus. This creates new chains of interaction to promote our interests in the countries of accreditation of Belarusian foreign missions," the deputy minister noted.
According to Igor Nazaruk, the current indicators of social and economic development inspire confidence that the goals set by the president will be achieved.
