MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) – The final report of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission that monitored the parliamentary elections in Belarus 2016 can be considered as a basis for further dialogue and constructive interaction with the Office in electoral issues, reads the commentary by spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik on the recently released OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation report.
“The final report of the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission to the parliamentary elections in Belarus, which was published yesterday, is quite a substantive document both in terms of volume and content. Its thorough analysis will take time and will require the participation of specialists. Such an analysis will be undertaken shortly by the Central Election Commission and members of the interagency group of experts which was set up in 2015 to review the ODIHR's recommendations following the presidential elections,” reads the statement.
“After preliminary familiarization with the document, we can say that that the document is quite balanced,” Dmitry Mironchik said. “Alongside with criticism, the document reflects the positive aspects of the last campaign and also the steps undertaken by the Belarusian authorities to further improve the election process taking into account the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations. I think that the report can be viewed as a basis for further dialogue and constructive cooperation with the Office,” Dmitry Mironchik stressed.
