Makei: Belarus will continue working for universal peace

MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) - Belarus is set to continue working for the universal peace, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at the opening of the first conference of honorary consuls of Belarus on 3 October, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs stressed that Belarus does not accept the military rhetoric of some states and believes that negotiations are the only means to discuss any emerging problems.

According to Vladimir Makei, Belarus’ foreign political contacts have become much more active. Visits of foreign delegations, large-scale foreign political events of different levels testify to the fact. The cultural and sci-tech cooperation has been expanding.

“In summer 2017 Minsk became a parliamentary capital of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. In June 2017 we hosted a session of the OSCE Plenary Assembly. Now Belarus is presiding at the Central European Initiative and is organizing different meetings. We have already held a meeting of the OSCE ministers of foreign affairs and are gearing up for the similar meeting at the level of prime ministers,” Vladimir Makei said.
