MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Belarusians will never agree to glorify those, who burned down Khatyn and hundreds of other Belarusian villages. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in his Address to the nation and the parliament on 31 March, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “We will never agree to glorify those, who burned down Khatyn and hundreds of villages in Belarus’ territory.”
The president remarked that similar events in Ukraine had been a trigger of the current crisis. “Brouhaha in the government, excessive corruption, poverty of the majority of the population, unacceptable nationalism with elements of fascism, ban on the Russian language, destruction of everything related to the period of the Soviet Union and the heroic past: demolition of monuments, renaming of streets and glorification of murderers of civilians of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. We can never agree with the latter,” the head of state said.
