DOBRUSH, 4 February (BelTA) – The work of Chinese contractors whose projects failed in Belarus will be discussed with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he was inspecting Dobrush Paper Factory on 4 February, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian head of state instructed his aide Aleksandr Kosinets to compile a list of failed projects. “I will have a very serious conversation with Xi Jinping. I have already mentioned it while talking to him, but this time we will discuss it in detail. These companies will be in the crosshairs,” the head of state said.
The projects that were not completed by Chinese companies include the construction of a cardboard production facility in Dobrush. “The fact is that we badly need this plant, and this plant is nearing completion. We have learned our lesson again when it comes to cooperation with foreigners. It has turned out that not all of them are lily-white. Therefore, we should not rely heavily on any of them. We need to paddle our own canoe. General rules of the game should apply while working with foreign companies. We should only opt for the companies with a good reputation, even though their services might be slightly more expensive,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
He ordered to launch production of cardboard at the plant by December. “In other words, you should enter the final stage of the project in September. The facility should be up and running in December,” the president said. By this time, the factory should be fitted to roll out cardboard packaging.
