MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about the epidemiological situation as he met with top officials and executives of the city of Minsk on 7 July, BelTA has learned.

“The healthcare system that we have, the discipline and manageability have helped us overcome this challenge in such a densely populated and open city as Minsk. I have just talked to Natalya Kochanova [the chairperson of the Council of the Republic] to see what the situation was this morning. I can say that we have coped with this challenge,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

According to the head of state, Minsk was the worst-hit region during the epidemiologically challenging period. “The population is 2 million, mobility is great. Since we did not close the borders, we did not impose isolation requirements for people," the Belarusian leader said.

He stressed that the most important thing was to prevent the panic. “We did well. Let’s hope will be doing better and better. We need to beat it completely and prevent another wave. This is very important for us," the president concluded.
