MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – The Union State project with Russia is still relevant, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his State of the Nation Address on 24 April, BelTA has learned.
“The Union State project with Russia is still relevant. Due to the very tense international situation (perhaps, the most difficult for the last decades), our partnership is becoming more and more valuable. At the same time, the integration potential is not used to the full and not always in the most effectient way. The issues of access of Belarusian products to the Russian market have become proverbial! We have been talking about creating a common market for two decades but still face problems in different areas, be it food or energy resources. Now migration and border issues have emerged,” the head of state said.
Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that the Eurasian Economic Union has been in operation for four years now. There were many plans and promising projects, but some of them are still far from being implemented. “Due to many reasons and not only internal ones. If we cannot influence the so-called external factors, the things that happen in the union depend on its members,” stressed the Belarusian leader.
