MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Banks should become engines of innovation, particularly in matters of digitization. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he met with top officials of the country’s central bank and made a few personnel decisions on 20 July, BelTA has learned.
The president noted: “Banks should not stay away from modern trends. Moreover, they should become engines of innovation. Particularly in matters concerning digitization.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko believes that conventional banks will no longer be around in 5-10 years and it is necessary to start preparing for these changes now.
“R&D products of companies residing in our Hi-Tech Park are already in demand in Swiss and American banks. This is why we should more broadly use the potential of the park in practice, too,” the head of state said.
