Lukashenko outlines tasks for security and law enforcement agencies

MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko outlined the tasks for the country's security and law enforcement agencies during a ceremony to honor graduates of higher military schools and top officers in Minsk on 8 July, BelTA has learned.

"You are young, well-educated and eager officers, able to contribute to the strengthening of the military organization of the state. Graduates of the military schools will work to improve the training and coherence of the control bodies and troops, to train subordinates into modern ways of armed combat," the head of state said.

The president noted that the joint strategic exercise of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia Zapad 2021 will become a serious test of professional maturity for officers. This will be another significant step in the training of the Armed Forces and improving the current system of ensuring the military security of the state, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

"The main task of the police officers is to ensure public order in the country. Priorities remain to further improve the level of training in the performance of tasks in special conditions, respect for the rule of law and fair treatment of citizens," the Belarusian leader noted.

The main focus of the Emergencies Ministry should be to improve the efficiency of work to prevent fires, accidents and deaths from them, the president stressed. He noted that in today's conditions, Emergencies Ministry workers should be ready to eliminate emergencies that may arise as a result of destructive actions and extremist activities.

“Freshly minted border guards should rigorously protect and defend the state border. This is a very important task today. In view of intensifying military activities near the Belarusian borders, more provocations from the neighboring states, and increasing cross-border criminal activities, we should maintain a high level of combat readiness and personnel training as well as detect and prevent illegal activities near our borders in time,” the head of state added.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the main tasks of special services officers are uncovering preparations for terrorist and extremist attacks, civil unrest, national and religious discord, taking measures to prevent them, curbing destructive forces’ attempts to harm the economy and other areas of the country’s life, and ensuring peace and development in the country.

“By choosing to serve our Motherland, you, officers, assumed great responsibility. This is your mission, your life’s course that was your conscious choice. I wish you to live up to this honorable task – protecting your Motherland. I would like to salute you and everyone who has ever chosen the difficult, but honorable military career,” the president said.
