Lukashenko: For me Belarusian people are great, I must defend them

VITEBSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Belarusians are a great and talented nation, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the Q&A session titled “Open Microphone with the President” at Vitebsk State University on 2 September, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that ensuring national security is one of the most important tasks for the president and he will not allow anyone to violate the border of Belarus.

“There is a small Belarus over there’... Is it really small? This is a great country; Belarusian people live here. For me, they are great, I must defend them. You are great people for me. Of course, God forbid we have to press the red button, but we are a country that no longer wants to be subjugated, we no longer want to live in misery. We are smart enough, our people are talented. And most importantly, we do not ask anyone for anything. Leave us alone. This is our land, we want to live here,” Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked.
