MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – We call people the most important value for a reason. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in his Address to the nation and the parliament on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Social justice is the fourth condition of sovereignty and independence. There is nothing more important than that. Everyone is talking about it now. If you remember, several years ago I was constantly saying let’s make it better. Let’s ensure social justice. Everyone wants that today. Why do Russians criticize their government sometimes? And I’ve noticed that all the scientists, all the sociologists, community activists in Russia have started talking about social justice. Why is there a mutiny in France and other Western countries? The pension reform is not a problem. And if it is a problem, then people demand social justice. I don’t know what you think about that but I am an enlightened man in this area. When I hear that the richest man has $300 billion as assets or in his pockets, I don’t think it is acceptable. But nobody has calculated how many millions of people had to work to earn these billions and what these people got in return. They got enough to survive. This is injustice. And this injustice is the reason for what is going on not only in France today.”

The people is the only source of state power and the bearer of sovereignty, Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked. “This norm of the Constitution predetermines the key principle of our policy – social justice. And we will follow it regardless of what happens in the world and in the country,” the president said. “We call people the most important value for a reason. Observation of rights of Belarus citizens is an unshakable postulate in our state.”

“Equal rights for everyone to free and accessible education, healthcare, to labor and protection if people fall ill, equal opportunities for starting a career are the main goals of our social policy. The nation can count on equal support of the state. It is fair,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
