Lukashenko: Belarusian and Russian investigators can learn from each other

MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – Belarusian and Russian investigators can learn from each other, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Chairman of the Russian Investigation Committee Alexander Bastrykin, BelTA has learned.

“I think, you can learn a lot from us. You can see something useful here because we have done a lot to reform preliminary investigation and in other fields, retrofitted all branches of the law enforcement system, from ministries and agencies to the Supreme Court,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

“We have improved and modernized investigation. We have also modernized the State Forensic Committee which is a core institution, provided it with new equipment. We can conduct good forensic research, which benefits investigation. I always tell Ivan Danilovich (Chairman of the Investigation Committee of Belarus Ivan Noskevich. – BelTA’s note) that it is essential to bolster ties with the head of the Russian Investigation Committee and adopt their best practices. It will benefit both sides. I am interested in it,” the President stressed.

Our specialists can join efforts in this field. I am convinced that this interaction will be productive,” the President said. “You can always count on my support and assistance. We are always ready to lend a shoulder if necessary.”
