MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – The government will continue to support families with children under any circumstances, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with activists of the Belarusian Women’s Union on 5 March, BelTA has learned.
“I know that all mothers and mothers-to-be are anxious to know whether the government will continue to support mothers with children. It is an absolutely legitimate question, as this costs us a lot. We are the epitome of the welfare state. We offer dozens of social security benefits. I want to assure you that our state will continue to bear this burden under any conditions and circumstances. In full and, if necessary, beyond the existing social security net. Child benefits will be increased, no one is going to scrap parental leave, we will find the necessary funds to make sure pediatric care keeps pace with global trends (we are close to this), and that children’s health centers continue to be exemplary,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
At the same time, the president emphasized that although social security benefits are undoubtedly very important, it is no less important for every woman to have the support of a man.
“A man is not only a provider, but, first of all, a helping hand in household work. Teach men to be a father every day and hour, not only for a boy, but also for a girl. By the way, upon your proposal, a new holiday was established - Father's Day (21 October). It naturally fit into our lives. And this is another proof that we are doing a lot, if not everything, correctly," the head of state noted.
