MINSK, 25 July (BelTA) – The relations between Belarus and Latvia rely on trust and open discussion, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics said as he met with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei on 25 July, BelTA has learned.
The Latvian foreign minister welcomed positive attitudes in political and economic relations, and in cooperation as part of the Eastern Partnership project and regional security. In his words, the parties managed to work out an adequate cooperation format and achieve a high level of trust. The minister mentioned the information exchange in the defense sector and exchange of observers during exercises in Belarus and Latvia as a case in point.
Edgars Rinkevics noted that Belarus and Latvia openly discuss a broad range of issues, including matters on which the parties disagree.
He expressed confidence that the ongoing talks in Minsk will bear fruit and give a fresh impetus to Belarus-Latvia cooperation.
