MINSK, 28 September (BelTA) - Belarus is fast becoming a center of attraction for the whole continent, Chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference in Belarus, Archbishop Metropolitan of Minsk and Mogilev Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz said at the meeting between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and participants of the Plenary Assembly of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE) on 28 September, BelTA has learned.
Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz noted that the Palace of Independence hosts different meetings. It, however, has never hosted such a big number of representatives of the Roman Catholic Church. “It is another testimony that with every new hour Belarus, which is a geographical center of Europe, is becoming a center of attraction for the whole continent – not only for politicians, economists, figures of culture and science or athletes but also for religious leaders,” said the Metropolitan.
In his words, the president’s meeting with representatives of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences is a sign of the state’s respect to the Roman Catholic Church, and also a sign of the developing relations between them for the purpose of serving people. “The care for the human being is the starting point for mutual relations between the church and the state for further cooperation on the most urgent issues of the present day,” stressed Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz.
