MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) — The presidential election in Belarus will be held in line with the dates established by the national law, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said in an interview to the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“I believe that this important political event for our country will be coherent, peaceful and well-organized, as usual. I have worked both in Minsk and the region, and I know the civic position of our people. I have no doubts that everything will go well,” Natalya Kochanova said.
The election campaign issues were discussed at the recent meeting of the Belarusian head of state with the chairwoman of the Council of the Republic. Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that there are no reasons yet to reschedule the presidential election. The election will be held in the country within the established deadline in line with the law.
Natalya Kochanova told reporters that the timeframe of the election campaign will be determined after the matter is discussed with the Central Election Commission.
