MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) - The development of cooperation between the CIS member states is a priority of Belarus’ foreign policy, Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said at the meeting with the Interior Ministers of the CIS countries, BelTA has learned.
“Our country sees the development of cooperation in the Commonwealth of Independent States in virtually all areas, from the economy to social projects, as a key foreign policy priority. The Republic of Belarus is a consistent advocate of the further consolidation of the efforts of all CIS member states in combating crime,” said Andrei Kobyakov.
He added that Belarus welcomes the measures taken by the law enforcement agencies of the CIS countries.
In addition, the Prime Minister noted that the globalization of modern society has a negative impact on the crime situation. The cross-border threats are rapidly increasing. This necessitates improving the methods to neutralize the threats, find new ways to ensure the integrated national security of the state.
Most likely the negative trends will continue. The criminal community is getting consolidated, including at the regional and international levels. It actively uses the territory of the CIS countries for drug trafficking, money laundering, etc.
