MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – Belarus will hold the 2019 European Games at a high level, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said when presenting the state awards to distinguished Belarusians, BelTA has learned.
“Thanks to the openness and prestige in the international sporting arena, Belarus was granted the right to host the biggest continental sports forum - Second European Games 2019. We are confident that we will hold the games at a high level,” the Prime Minister said.
He presented the letters of commendation to the coaches and noted that thanks to their work Belarusian athletes have won medals this year. In 2016 the Belarusians picked up 529 medals including 154 gold, 168 silver and 207 bronze medals. 70 national records were recorded in Belarus in different kinds of sports.
