MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Belarus Mario Giorgio Stefano Baldi has expressed gratitude to the Belarusian people for the action of solidarity with Italy amid the coronavirus pandemic, BelTA learned from the diplomatic mission.
“Belarusians remember well that Italy was one of the first countries to help Belarus mitigate the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear plant accident. Hundreds of thousands of Belarusian children experienced great love of Italian families and for many of them Italy has become a second homeland. Today, Belarusians give us strength and hope for a better future,” the ambassador said.
As BelTA reported earlier, Belarus has joined international solidarity initiatives lighting up the National Library with the colors of the Italian flag on 26 March. A message of solidarity with Italy was also displayed on the building. The initiative will last through 31 March. Anyone can join it in the social networks with the solidarity of the Italian people message.
