MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in international distribution of high-quality television products about the country, Belarusian Information Minister Liliya Ananich said at the debut screening of the film “The Primeval Forest of Belovezhskaya Pushcha” shot by Animal Planet (Europe) Discovery that took place on 25 September, BelTA has learned.
Over 200 foreign TV channels broadcast in Belarus. “It is in our interests that foreign channels produce high-quality programs about Belarus. I think this project carried out by Animal Planet, one of the world’s major television channels, will become the first step in this direction,” Liliya Ananich noted.
Discovery Networks Director for North and East Europe Grigory Lavrov said that Animal Planet shoots films about amazing places around the world. “We have discovered the Belovezhskaya Pushcha and got convinced that it is a very beautiful tourist attraction that everyone should visit,” he stressed.
Grigory Lavrov also expressed hope that many people will have a desire to see the Belovezhskaya Pushcha with their own eyes after watching the film. “If we manage to convey at least a little bit of the love that Belarusian people feel for their country, we will be happy with what we have done,” Grigory Lavrov pointed out.
Belarusian audiences will be the first to see “The Primeval Forest of Belovezhskaya Pushcha”. The film has already been screened for diplomats, journalists of foreign media accredited in Belarus, Belarusian reporters, representatives of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park and Belarusian government officials at the Palace of the Republic. Another screening for the general audience will be held at the Oktyabr movie theater. Minsk university students and school children are invited to watch the film at the Moskva movie theater on 26 September.
The world premiere of the film will take place on 27 September. “The Primeval Forest of Belovezhskaya Pushcha” will be broadcast on Animal Planet (Europe) Discovery to all European countries and the European part of Russia.
The project was implemented with the support of the Belarusian Information Ministry, the TV operator Cosmos TV, and the Department of Presidential Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.
